Loading 2000xl pgm and seq files into my 3000 le

Hi,


So basically i want to load my old beats from the XL into the 3000. I have converted the XL .snd files into the 3000 .snd format and can load them into my 3000. However the pgm files dont work... any clues?

The PGM files need to be converted.

PC or MAC ...

On a PC you can do this conversion with the MPCEDITOR available from www.midicase.com.

On a MAC you can do this conversion with the MPCPGMMAKER available from http://homepage.mac.com/seishu/ssworks/MpcPgmMaker.html

The SEQ files from an MPC2000/MPC2000XL do not load on an MPC3000 or an MPC60.

If you save all of your XL sequences as Standard Midi File (SMF) sequences in the XL, you can use them in the MPC 3000 or any other sequencer that reads SMF files. You need to do that first though.

Thanks for your help people. I have MPCpgm maker (mac) but can't figure out how to load a program? I can only create one? Can't find any info on the website or manual about this either.

Just double click on the program in mpc editor and it will load up the program

A point in addition to the "Midi File (SMF)" way of doing things is that:

Whilst the "Midi File (SMF)" will allow portability of the note events that make up a SEQ...

The "Midi File (SMF)" will not allow interchange of MPC specific SEQ events as these are not carried within this type of file format.

i have the same problem

i can only save my seq files as midi type0 or type1 (.mid not .smf)

type 0 destroys a lot of information about the sequence
type 1 can't be read by the mpc3000

is there a tool changing xl sequences into 3000 seqeunces

I'm sorry about what's happening to you, but my MPC3000 reads/writes both kinds of Standard Midi Files. Like my man, Roghan said,

If you have sounds on the MPC (like bass sounds) that move up and down scales and are created from a single MPC pad, (Can't think of the proper terminology, I'm at work now) you will have to re-do that stuff yourself in the MPC after you load the SMF.

It's a pain, but you can also see it as a chance to "remix" your own songs.

*.MID ( MIDIFILE ) is the same as *.SMF ( STANDARD MIDIFILE ) or *.MFF ( MIDIFILE FORMAT ).

*.SMF is simply a way of "stating" that we're working with "STANDARD MIDI FILES".

MPC3000 reads ( *.MID and *.MFF ) and writes ( *.MID ).

Both common types ( TYPE 0 and TYPE 1 ) are supported.

The MPC3000 gives you the option of saving sequences as standard MIDI File (MID) formats.

MID format 0 merges all your tracks into a single track. MID format 1 maintains track separation. Some devices only support format 0. The MPC3000 can save and load format 0 faster than format 1.

It's my understanding that the MPC2000XL performs similarly in this regard.
