using protools as master sequencer for sp1200

does anyone know how to set the settings to slave the sp to protools .......

if the sp has limited poly and... if i use protools as a master does it mean i have more poly..

also is there a way to get the timing form the sp and put it in protools as a template

Just slave it via midi clock. Midi out from PT to midi in on the SP, hit "sync - 2" on the SP and make sure PT sends midi clock out. You can do it the other way around too. In both cases, running the SP double time means you have to run PT double time too.

Syncing will not give you more polyphony from the SP, but it will allow you to multitrack the SP in multiple passes, meaning you can keep overdubbing sounds until the cows come home.

As for extracting the 'groove' from the SP; in LOGIC you can make 'groove templates' from midi or audio files. You can do the same thing in PT, it probably is something to do with 'beat detective'. Look it up in the manual. It might be something that's in PT but not PTLE. Keep in mind the 'swing' on the SP is _in theory_ just regular swing, which comes standard in just about any sequencer... Although many people will tell you the swing on an SP (or MPC60/3000) is just a little nicer than any other. Let your ears be the judge.
