s950 + what type of keyboard

so i've heard that i might want to think about getting a s950 for advanced sample editting/tweaking and a keyboard to make basslines and other original tracks/riffs to expand the 60's production capabilities.

my question what advanced functions does the s950 actually provide that the 60's internal sampler won't already give me? i have 3.10 OS and expanded memory.

i'm guessing i would want some type of FX processor (is this available w/ the s950?) to filter out highs and whatnot and edit samples with other FX types so will the s950 allow me some options such as these? i saw a few go on the bay recently for like $300 which isn't bad according to some folks i've spoken with.

what would be a good keyboard to hook up to the 60 (or s950) for sampling original tracks/riffs?

1. higher quality sample rate - if that's what you need
2. the sickest low pass filter you ever heard in your life - the sh!t buzzes - listen to GANGSTARR "hard to earn" to hear it - Especially on DWYCK
3. ability to pitch samples up and down over 3 octaves - i think the MPC can only pitch down a full octave and up a half
4. A greater sampling capacity
5. A factory installed SINE wave that is always available to you - great for layering under your kicks and it's free of charge
6. My favorite function of all - the ability to loop samples - Listen to my beat - "and the FLOCK" on soundclick =-> (no i'm not trying to promote myself....errrr yeah i am) www.soundclick.com/drumatic ---- listen to the violin and wah guitars - those are not delay effects but actually the S950's loop function being used (in the same way the SP1200 loops) and it has ATTACK DECAY SUSTAIN AND RELEASE - I'm using a release setting of about 90 or so. It also has some sick crazy VCF and LFO filters ---not really sure how they work though....they alter the pitch modulation of all my samples so i tend to stay away from those functions.

I love my S950. Although to be quite honest i'm also thinking of purchasing an EMAX 1.....which is another great rack mounted sampler.

how's that EMAX going for you? i remember reading some posts where you and elmac were talking about the learning curve. i'm looking to get the s950 or the EMAX with the keyboard.

elmac, you say the one w/ the keyboard is too big. but i want a keyboard anyways. kill two birds, right? or what other type of keyboard would be good for me? i want a keyboard which i can load sound libraries into. you know, like rhodes kits or what have you. i seen all these sample disks for sale on this site but nothing for the 60. it seems to be all 2kxl stuff.

what have you guys heard about the micro korg? i mainly want to use a keyboard for bass. i heard i should think about using the micro korg instead. but still i would like to use a keyboard for piano/violin/guitar/bass sounds.

Nah man, emax keyboard is too big, not sure if it has aftertouch either.

get a sampling keyboard, but a 950 and a controller keyboard is good, just get something low profile, nothing too big. asr 10 would be good.

what about looking at the eps-16 keyboard or roland w-30 just a suggestion

i just want a stand alone keyboard to go along with an s950. i don't really think i'll mess with the asr10. i'd rather perfect the 60!

BTW, second question cuz i don't feel like making a new thread: can i take out the 750k memory expansion from my 60 and use it for my s950 instead? wouldn't that work?
