Buttons not responding

for the 3000....
none of the buttons are responding as they should except left and right, any ideas?

word, some of my buttons dont work too well either.. like i gotta press them harder than others for them to work..
(the play btn, 6 btn, other btn, sftkey 4 btn and a couple others...)

should i (and other dude above) just take the whole thing apart and put it back together?

Nope, you need new tact switches installed, it's tough work, a tech can handle it, but get the spares from mouser, someone posted the partnumber here a while ago for the 3000, I think it might even be on Midicase cuz mike is thorough like that.

I got mine from Digikey. I replaced all the switches when I got my 3000, I can get the part number if anyone needs it.

Can you post the part number? I had my switches replaced today and it cost me a grip. If I can avoid that in the future I would be grateful.

Digikey Part Number P8079SCT-ND. There are several variants of this part number that you can order, just make sure the mechanical dimensions are the same. I do non warranty repair work if you need assistance. I am in the Baltimore, MD.

You are the man! I wish more people were like this, honestly. Whenever there is music/gear related advice that I can give, I always share whatever I know, there are a lot of people that feel that it is against their best interest to help others. I think that is sad.

One last question. I have built many a computer and I am pretty good with electronics, is there anything special, tool wise/instruction wise that one would need to know in order to perform this surgery? I plan on updating all my buttons ASAP! Unfortunately, I didnt tell the tech to replace my "main screen" button and it is acting up on me! Thanks again man!

You will need a soldering iron. If you can use a solder removal tool (solder sucker) it would help. Also you will have to remove the main board from your MPC in order to gain access to the bottom of the tact switch holes. Remove the switches and then remove the solder from the holes to make way for the new switches. Solder the new switches and clip the leads to the right length. If you are not good at soldering I would have a tech do this work since you could damage your MPC. Hit me up with a PM if you need more help.

its pretty easy if youve done soldering before. disassembling the mpc is a pain in the ass tho. i just redid all my buttons and have some switches left. hit me up if you dont wanna go thru the hassle of ordering from digikey or mouser
