1. Does a label pay for a sample usually or does it come out of the producers pockt? How exactly does that work with say a bigger label like say Kanye and the ROC if he sampled something?


2. How much would usually get paid to the owner of the song sampled that was somewhat popular (nothing big label like columbia or something but jsut average sized) if say the album sold 2 million? What about 500,000? What 100,000?

Im just curious to what kinda of fees sampling is at b/c I heard a number but I was like that is way to high and not even possible.

THE Majors usually PAY tho' not ALWAYS......................
and If there is a Prob they Jus' Make U Remove it...............

As For the Payment of Clearance Price it IS NOT SET....................
I've Heard FROM ...Jus' Give ME CREDIT to Like 90% or So Precent of Royalties (Which is A Ploy 2 Make U Remove it!!!!!)..........................

yes, I think it is up to whoever owns the rights to the original how much they let it go for. I've even heard of people asking for 110% of royalties!
