Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
Bymastermind Fri Sep 12, 2003 4:39 am
I have a few problems here.
I have the roland xp30keyboard hooked up to my mpc2000
when I record a sound via midi and then play it back it sounds ok but when I change the sound on my keyboard it changes the sound of the previously recorded midi sound on the MPC. I set the device numbers, channel numbers I've tried overdubbing, and recording the new sound on a new track. but this doesn't work either.
When I change the sound on the keyboard it changes all the midi sequences to the new sound>

WHY

Help Me Please>>>>>>>>

i had this problem too.......you have to understand that the mpc is a midi controller so you have to change the track on the mpc before going on.....when you change the track on the keyboard(yours is different than mines) first...... you will confuse the mpc.....so it will reset to the default sound.....

good luck

BTW i posted a similar problem and i had to fend for myself.....only ppl responded was ppl who didn't know what i was talking about(like "midi in to midi out and midi out to midi in")....or had similar problems.....oh yeah save your work on both machines or you might have lost data......

but maybe you are talking about something else like those who tried to help me!.....

I'm not too familiar with the Roland XP's, but you should try to see if you can turn off MIDI Program Change Send on the XP30. It might be called something slighty different...the point is to NOT send the MIDI message of a program change.

ONE.

you need to go into multitimbral mode on the xp for this to work how you want it.

it might be called performance or multi mode.
