Song back up

I know the 4000 has a cd burner,but do some of you guys still use zip drives? It seems like its faster to save to one of those than burning a cd.

USB keys work great ...

kaotik - sorry - no idea on zipping. but cd is slow here too. my 4k shows x 4, x 8 and x 16. i got a plextor in there which should burn at x 24 or x 32, cant remember. however its slow.

glide - good lookin - dont have a usb key yet. ... are you sayin they are faster then aksys? ... how about compared to the internal harddisc. and which format has your key? 1.1 or 2.0?

nhhaa.. I just poped up w usb key idea as its so dandy....
(its 2.0) the internal HD is faster (just judging it from loading the same session of HD and usb stick

but I'd think Akasys and your PC HD would be the most convinient way of doing it.. or an exsternal usb drive is another very good option, the usb key thing is good for transfering stuff between pc and mpc or as temp work HD, but no it isn't that great for just backup.. sorry should have read the orginal post a bit slower

Here is how I work.

I have all files that belong to one song/project together in one project folder on my PC HD. The folder has the same name as the song. This includes a multitrack project with recorded audiofiles, a total recall file for my digital mixer, synth patches that cannot be saved in a sequence with sysex, etc.

Like this I have all files that belong to a song saved in one easy to find location. For the MPC files I simply drag the memory icon from ak.sys into the project folder and rename it from memory to MPC. Reloading is easy. Drag the MPC folder onto the memory icon in ak.sys.
Once in a while I synchronise the content of the main projects folder onto a DVD for backup. I Always save a version of the song with all the MPC files on my MPC harddrive as well just to be sure.

i dont havent started upgrading my 4k, so iam using zip. it is fast. cant compare it to cd but zip works fine for me.

though sum1 here said that burning to cd is faster.
