hello

been a long time since ive posted...
just picked up a 60 with the upgrades and im really stoked.

getting it all jacked up.. hope everyone is doing well and making good things....

small question... tried searching but couldnt fix my problem. i have a vst floppy drive hooked up via usb to my mac, and its not reading teh disk drive.. any suggestions would be appreciated....

if anyone is doing any good shit in nyc, hitme off as well.

im comfortable using the machine... been using a 2000 for like 6 years. been digging thru the manual as well while i was waiting for it to ship..only problem im having is my floppy showing up on my mac. figured someone that is a mac genius could help.. wanna get the editor to disk to 60 working out... anyways......

Can be tricky with floppies. I eventually got myself the scsi upgrade. But try this...

Make sure you got the right floppies first. 720 ones, not 1.44.

Its the same kinda deal with the zips, so...

Use a carrier floppy. ie one that you will be putting in your mac to carry the snd files to the mpc. Once the sounds are in your mpc then save them to another floppy. One that will never go near your mac. they have a habit of getting damaged, or unreadable fairly often.

To be honest, these days I sample straight into the mpc outa my mac. I go from motu interface, through mixing desk and into mpc. that way I got more control to shape the sound a little with eq, filters etc and also get some more grit by overloading the mpc a little. but i guess this method dont work if you have been carefully crafting a sample in audio editors and suchlike. but its quick an easy, and with good converters from your mac it dont decrease that all elusive fatness

yea its weird.. the drive appears when i look at whats connected to my usb ports, but doesnt show up on the desk top.. oh well.

i kinda feel you on just running out of the soundcard. i got a 002 probably just do like that... most of the stuff im doing at this particular moment is playing off live drums/band, so im always in that realm anyway.

so 720 disks are the rule of thumb for the 60.. i have been using 1.44 and havent really had any real problems yet. just getting the kinks working out. really happy with everything so far, really easy to use and so nice sounding.

No worries. But everyone here will agree with me - get the scsi upgrade and attach a zip disk to your 60. It loads real quick, and you don't end up having a gazillion disks lying around. It's really worth the effort

Yes SCSI is very much worth it, if you have the cash laying around, but hope to buy something more glamorous like a microkorg or something, I think the SCSI is a better investement in the long run, more stable than floppies in my experience, and it makes things move much faster.

yea i have the scsi option. i only used a zip drive on the 2k... too much crazyness to have 8 billion floppies around that you forgot to write on when you sampled or made something.. i cant find my zipdrive. i saw it at my practice space last week, but it vanaished. gonna pick up another one on ebay soon.... microkorgs suck too id at least get something that was older than me... ...
