i don't know. i just keep seeing posts where people say "know what your feeding your machine." and i think they were talking about the mpc1k being 16bit needs to have 16bit samples. and i read the I/Os on the micron are 24bit. i don't really have a clue. thats why i asked

Dont worry about this. It is only describing the internals of the Micron being 24bit. Remember, its a computer with a piano keyboard attached; all the internal calculations and sound creation algorithms are 24bit. Once they are presented to you, they go through DA converters so you are left with an analogue sound. Furthermore, the Micron does not have any digital outs so you can not get access to the digital signal anyway.

Practically speaking, if you then sample the 24bit Micron into your 16bit MPC you will be reducing its quality very slightly but you will not notice this.

Good luck..

I got the 2000 classic mpc, a micron and a motif es rack... all good choices, even better working together. You can't go wrong with the micron. It's got a good sound, filters and effects, vocoder, multitimbral, what else would you need from a portable va synth? The Virus TI Polar kills it but for 2400 vs the micron's 399 price tag. It's a great buy.
