How many times is this gonna happen?

Okay heres the story of my life it seems like


Step 1. Find Sample
Step 2. Get exicted ready to make best beat ever
Step 3. Make beat and spend an hour at least on it
Step 4. Let my brother hear or go listen to my a commercial cd
Step 5. Find out that the **** has been done
Step 6. Get pissed off for rest of day and want to give up



Any one else with thiis problem

Man,keep the track if you like it.As long as it's not the exact beat.Which i'm sure it's not,don't sweat it.Never know what you can do with it.

i really never have had that problem. i guess i use different samples then others.

A couple are pretty much the exact same (same sample part) but a couple they interpolated and since i dont got a keyboard I cant so I might try and do something with them later once everybody forgets the songs lol. Thanks for responses guys

try taking samples from less obvious records. if you kep on sampling the same isaac hayes records then it's more likely that the samples have already been used

Thats what Ive decided to start doing. I cant stand 80's music but Im gonna start looking into the world music section for some samples. I should of been doign that a long time but the place I dig I didnt even realize it had a world section lol. Thanks Cheech

Man, I feel you on that whole, "somebody has already used that sample" syndrome. A few months ago, I was makin' this beat after I heard this ill sample from the Nat King Cole album "Unforgettable" (yeah I know that I just told the whole world, so what!) A few weeks later, I hear the same sample bein' used in Tweet's newest song "Turn off the lights" or wateva it's called. heartbreak

come on, you thought nat king cole's most popular song hadn't been flipped?

look at it like a challenge. You should flip it good enough anyways, that even if its the same sample...... someone will say "i liked the way he flipped that sample better than jayz(insert producer here)"

Half the time the general public isnt gonna notice unless its super duper close......like if it was a loop. IN this case then more things play into it, like whos rapping, how do the drums fit....

Ive played the same beat to the same person, two differant times and they did not realize its the same beat. Ive also used the same sounds to make a completely differant beat with differant groove style etc. Ive also showed original samples and the flipped samples and they did not realize it was the same sample, etc. People dont analyze music.........producers do.

If another producer likes your version better, chances are so will most other people.

On 50cents new album, he uses the same sample Ghost face did on pretty tony..............I like Ghostface's a million times better..............but thats because theres better flow, and actually the beat is put together with better drums............i even think it was the same producer. But this goes to show that sometimes the sample is irrelavant..........its the groove and flow over the beat, the entire song as a whole, the way the drums fit, how things contrast, how things mesh, all the descisions you make as a producer.

Even myself as a producer (who knows better) have heard a song, then heard another with the same sample flipped slightly differant, and been like "hey that sounds like such and such" but I did not think twice and point out it was the same sample. I just thought it "reminded me of that song". I either liked it or i didnt........I did not think "oh it sucks cause its the same sample" I judged it on whether i liked the song or not.

If you are truthfully using the same samples unknowingly........then do your thang, and just make sure you do a good job.

If dr.dre heard your version and liked it better........dr.dre is gonna say, "hes better than xxxx".........thats good.
