Pre Amp or Compressor

which one will be a better purchase for fattening up your sounds.....or even more crispy......is copping both a must?.....i am open to suggestions!

if you want to fatten up your sounds try compression(and EQ)
if you were talking about vocal's though i would say both

It really depends on the preamp or compressor. The right preamp can do the job.. The right eq can do the job as well as the right compressor. A garden variety budget model of any of these may not always do the trick though.

try to get a combo unit if youre short on cash, i heard the hhb fatman is pretty nice. if you got cash though get a couple distressors, theyre f'ing tight!

oh dude, distressors are a sick a*s compressor by empirical labs. they're pretty much in every studio around. they sound f*ckin awesome. but they are rather pricey, like 12 or 13 hund for a mono. thats why i said if you got the cash get them, but i know i dont have that cash!

i do it to burn cd's on an external burner connected to my mixer

i run all of my individual sounds threw it though and wow!!!!!!
