I have both and they are great, but dollar for dollar the ASR is worth more than the S2000.

Just to spite, here's some stuff about the S2000 that runs rings around the ASR:
1) S2000 has mesa, which is free. ASR has nothing. All features of the S2000 are available for editing remotely.
2) S2000 can get repaired. It is really hard and really expensive to get an ASR repaired. And in fact it is never really repaired and will just go a series of baord swaps. Besides an S2000 will almost never need any type repair.
3) S2000 has twice the memory.
4) S2000 has resonant filters.
5) S2000 is more campatible with more types of SCSI devices.
6) Support for the S2000 is still available.
7) More sample libraries are available for the S2000 and the S2000 reads many more types of libraries than the ASR.
8) The ASR was never finished and still has several MAJOR bugs.
9) S2000 has more options that provide: more outputs, more filters, and more envelopes.
10) You can actually still buy options of the S2000. Try finding any option besides memory for the ASR.
10) Along with that, try finding repair parts for the ASR. Every to find a replacement screen for the ASR?

I like the ASR and already know what it can do. If you would like rephrase why it runs circles around the S2000 in your own words I would be glad to hear them, like grown ups instead of using playground talk.

Hey seriously though, midicase, where are the libraries of smples you speak off available for the s2000? Last i checked all the s1000/s3000 format was the standard. By the way i was basing my opinion on the magnitude of the ASRs sound, the ease of use, the serious keyboard feel, and I like my gear black....whew.

And my ASR came with a disk that loads resonant filters to the effects section.

the asr 10 has the nicest feeling keys of any sampler/sequencer, that alone is worth its weight in gold (if you play keys)

I know this isn't part of the topic but who knows where to get those 'great asr sounds". the kind you can't do with out once you hear them .Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The reason why i posted this question is because i just got the ASR and its giving me hell! Yes its easy to use, but it crashes alot. I could be making a beat and then all of a sudden when its midi-ed up to the MPC it crashes. I need a compatable sampler to go with my MPC, and to me the ASR its not doing the job. So i am seriously thinking about trading it for real......maybe for another keybord with an sampler module. what you think?

You gotta update to the latest OS on the ASR, it will never crash. I forget the number, I'll post up when Im back at home and let you know. I could even send you a copy.

my asr10 + mpc2000xl is a great combo. I dont think i can do without either now that I am using them properly. And my asr has never crashed. My mpc has crashed once.

I've had both conencted to my MPC (not at the same time) and I had no problem with either but I liked the feel of the ASR and it ease of use more than the S2000.
