The ULTIMATE Bare Bones Set Up

Long story short: I wanted to buy an MPC-60, but after closer financial analysis, it's not an option for a while at least.

Basically I have $600 to spend on equipment.

To make matters even more challenging, I have no computer access as for as recording goes.

Ideally, I want to be able to make beats/sample and record for $600.

What would you do if you were me..?

Boss sp-303 - $200 or less
cheap turntable for sampling - Numark PT01- $100
Roland vs840 - $200-$250
Eighth of Chronic for inspiration - $50

There. the $600 studio. Works for Madlib....

I would buy any MPC you could get for 600, use headphones while you learn it, then get the rest of the stuff.

2000's can go for cheap.

Even though I am not a fan of them, I would get a used 1000.

1000's can resample their own outputs to WAV, which means you can mixdown your track on the mpc 1000 then resample it to a wav file and export. Nice in your situation.
