Pitch Shift Plugin

Can anyone help. I'm looking for a top notch pitch shift plugin either for Logic or Protools.

I want to create the effect Prince used to use on his voice on tracks like if I was your Girlfriend and U Got The Look. Pitched up vocals.

The ones that come standard with Protools or Logic really warble the vocal.

Can anyone recommend any indusrty standard ones or really good ones that they have worked with.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you tried both the real-time plug-in & the time & pitch machine in Logic?

Antares Auto Tune or Melodyne are a couple to look into.

If you are using a Mac try out the pitch shifting on Amazing Slow Downer OSX, although this is a seperate app. not a plug-in. Actually Melodyne is a seperate app. too but you can put audio files of the rest of your track in too.

Finally, don't forget Prince can sing in a pretty high falsetto anyway so he probably didn't need to do much pitch shifting anyway. Check the date of those tracks & you might be able to guess what his options were back then.

If you like ProTools, then Pitch'n'Time 2.0 is the shillz.
You highlight your section, then you can stretch or shorten
without changing key, and also change key without effecting
length. You can also type in original BPM, then what you want
to stretch it to, and viola. You can hear a difference when
you a/b the result w/ the original, but as far as the end listener,
they'll never know, even with 10bpm difference. You
can do the same with notes, say, start with one octave in C, and
change it automatically to another key. But only in one step:
it won't change each note to make the key actually modulate,
but you could do that with individual notes in the phraze if you
need a whole keychange.
Of course, if you go crazy far either way you'll get some digital
artifacts, but for most practical steeze, I am satisfied.

i have read a few interviews with the engineers that worked with Prince on those tracks and they all say he managed to get that pitched-up Camille voice by sitting on a large glacial ice cube with his nuts clamped together....hope this helps.
