Taking Care...

Is it safe to set an MPC on top of a Cerwin Vega floor speaker? I heard before that the magnet in a speaker can mess up other electronic equipment if it's too close. My floor speaker has a 12" subwoofer at the bottom, mid in the center and then a tweeter at the top which is closest to the MPC. I don't think the magnet in the tweeter is that big so I'm thinkin' it won't mess up the MPC.

If I could, I would definitely set the MPC on a regular table but the way my room is set up, it's most convenient to place the MPC on my floor speaker.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

man speaking of girls I had a girl roll into my studo and start messing with all the gear (she came with my lady) the funniest thing was my lady knows how I get when someone comes in and starts messing with it, Its not ego its just ai have settings I dont want messed up plus, if you dont nkow how to use it, leave it ALONE> I will show you how to use it, then you can use it all you want u dig?>

so she was messig with it, and as I walk in my girl gets this SHOOK look on her face, the girl says "I was looking for the volume on the back and it went off." MORON U PUSHED THE POWER BUTTON THE VOLUME IS THE KNOB IN THE FRONT THAT SAYS VOLUME.

it was cool tho, she cleaned my kitchen to say sorry while I redid the beat I had on there (not saved aaaaarrrgggghh) I did get my kitchen clean, no easy task, cleaning a bachelors kitchen.....

yo i would of killed someone especaly if i didnt have my beat saved.

it suckes when your the only one who knos how to work it.


last nite i paniced cuz i for got how to save.

i have this medical condition that i get lost and confused sometimes,
caused by diabetes and last nite of all times i F@(kin forgot how to do this
i could not call any one because no one knos how to work my mpc .

so i waited for a while and my memory came back, low sugar.

i finally shut it down. i didnt have the beat saved so i just couldnt turnit off.

My friends dont care about my equipment, they dont touch it because they dont know how it works...they may touch it no problem but they are are noobs with computers and music, they just rappin not more..
But if they try do I watch them!! hahaha they are my best friend..

And my girl dont unserstand that se cant put a light make up bag on my MPC....damn yo

yo.....i can't front. hopefully some of you can take this well, but dudes sound off the wall and more than crazy when talking about putting MPCs before their wives. What's really goin' on?!?!?!? No offense...I'm a beat head too and love love love my MPC2kxl, but never more than my wife. I really hope cats were joking when they talked about how much they value their MPCs.

You cant compare your love for music with the love for your girl. But both of them need 2 respect each other nah mean?

i live at my moms and pops... house... and i take no risks.... if iam gonna be gone out of the house for more than an hour, i lock the door to my room... just in case my moms and pops... invite some people over... cuz i got these two toddler cousins... that are curious as phukk... in two minutes... a hurricane would have passed through your spot....

yeah i remeber those days wit my cusins, now my boy is different he shows passion for it , when papi's rockin a beat he fells it and dances to it.
last nite i was mixin and he was all into it.

You can also usea mixture of like 10% alcohol and 90% water. That is so the alcohol will be just strong enough to clean all the oil and dirt from your fingers off of the chassis but not strong enough to ruin the ORIGINAL paint job or the 2kxlse1-se3 paint job I wouldn't try it with any other paint jobs you may have done.

my mpc has done a lot of gig and some tours. it needed some love so i gave it to it. now im used to the ritual of opening her up and getting down with the elbow grease

ive put together a little cleaning/servicing kit for my studio:

-Contact Cleaner: use an Anti-Oxidiser (NEVER use WD40!! its petroleum based! it will corrode!!)

-Phillips screwdriver set

-lint-free cloths

-cleansing alcohol

-those ear-tip things

-compressed air

-various small sandpaper bits

-pliers, clippers etc.

-a few small paintbrushes and a toothbrush


i keep this in a small tacklebox where i wont lose it. id love any suggestions of other stuff that might come in handy if youve got em.

its pretty important to clean and protect your contacts (where plugs/cables go) so look into a good contact cleaner! thats my advice. oh and i dont really care about cosmetic damage, scratches come and go, and i customise her anyway.

as for girlfriends and gear, well i did the diplomatic route and sat my girlfriend down one evening and explained it all... an hours talk about how it all works, and the basics of Dont Blow It Up, and she is down.
