Sampling from cassette tapes

Anybody sample from tapes... I like it.

Gives a nice warm sound.. I even like to resample my own drums and shit from tape for that sound.

Anyone?

dont get me wrong tho, I'm still a vinyl fiend by nature

There are also analog tape saturation plugins avaible on the net. I've found some long time ago and use it every now and then. It sounds just like my old cassette tapes in my closet. You know how when you have a sun dried tape sitting in your car for like a week, it loses quality, I can do that with the plugin too .

I sample everything first to tape ( got some nice ampex studio master tapes) and boost them to like +4db. I dont need central heating anymore of the warmth it's givin me!!

and then to the MP!

And it also saved my ass.. I **** up during saving so only the seq's were saved and the program (WITHOUT THE SOUNDS).

but hey i still got all the samples on tape so sampled it, chopped it the right way! and there it was..my lost beat haha

i use the tape method all the time. don't have a cd player to my set up yet. if i have a cd i use another system to record to tape then sample it.but basically, some records or my triton.

Nobody said it was new... I'm just seeing how many people still do it.

f*ck, I was just thinking about this the other day when I saw some old tapes at the record store.

yea, i love sampling from tapes... i got boxes and boxes of tapes that my parents gave to me.. so i got a pretty good collection.. more than my vinyl collection

You mean just cassette tape or reel to reel? I guess even cassette tapes could work. I haven't really thought of sampling from tape, but hey, why not? Whatever works, works!

yeah, i still use tape i record to tape on casstette and reel to reel,
i record to tape more hten cd i still got a tape player in my car so i record so i can hear what i made.


i got two reel to reels MPC i got that teac on the top in the middle there too. are those yours?
