The other day I formatted (without tninking any further at that moment) a 8 Mb CF card on my MPC2KXL and saved some progams on it. The next day I wanted to add files on it via the card reader of my pc (that runs XP) and... bingo I could not save any files nor delete any files form the CF card. That seems all pretty logic to me since the CF card got formatted on the MPC and my XP runs on ntfs filesystem.
Now I reformatted the CF card via the card reader of the pc (had to do it in a command window since the explorer window would not let me format it I guess that's related back to the fact that it was formatted on the MPC) and made sure it was formatted to a FAT file system.
After verifying that the card was well formatted and the fs was indeed FAT I copied a directory with wav files (yes they are the 16 bit 44khz, stereo wavs with names up to 8 charcters long) to the CF card. I played the wav's directly from the cf card in my computers media player to verify the files were saved correctly and whatnot.
NOW i put the cf card in my mpc and I can see the folder where I saved the sounds. I can open the folder but when I try to load any of the wavs it says can't read file. Is there something I have missed ? I copied the same folder to another cf card and those the MPC reads without a fault. That card of course got never formatted on the mpc
.
So here is my question why does a reformat of a cf card, that was previously formatted on the MPC, on the pc not read on the MPC.
I'm sorry this is such a long post but I tried to include as many details as possible.
Thanks to anyone who can give me some useful info/tips on this issue.
ps:Oh yes there is no need to tell me to not format a cf card on the MPC since I already knew that
