You can but any emu cd in your cd rom and the mpc can read all of the samples, programs, multi's ect. no need for awave, translator or that other bullshit. Holla

it's not totally spot on.. sometimes it doesn't spread the keys properly but
maybe that's because the cd's i had were old... otherwise, basic modulation matrix such as velocity to amp are there, and it works fine.

Are you guys talking about the CD ROM on the 4k? Becuase I have EMUs "Formula 4000 Analog Odyssey" sample CD for EMU ESI4000 sampler and it doesn't work on my MPC4K. I'm using OS 1.70. I have other EMU sample CDs that do work fine so it must be that the MPC4K doesn't read files for the ESI4000 sampler. I would like to see this updated in future OS upgrades.
