Talk and share knowledge on rare records, sources of new samples, vinyl, diggin, etc

Nah, sample whatever reissues n whatnot, just not new joints in your genre ;)

But I go to records to get the stuff I can't get on MP3 or CD, but if there is something good, I'll pay a buck for it instead of downloading or paying CD prices for it.

And yes, he was buying mucho comps and reissues. Lots of psyche rock if I remember correctly.

Wow, Ive been there a few times, thats the one on melrose right. Isnt fatbeats up the street?

Arons is on Highland just north of Santa Monica... the only record stores i can think of on melrose are FatBeats, and BeatNonStop... i havent been to melrose in a hot minute though...

I'll listen to tunes on any format....but when sampling I stick to vinyl...and generally originals....but like mans are saying...if you can only get it on a re-issue....fug it...

I tend to side with this school of thought, because to some extent, I see digging as part of the creative process.

I don't consider myself a hardcore digger, more of a 'diet digger', or 'digger lite', so I'd never call somebody out for not using originals.
Myself, I sample about 95% off of original vinyl, and 5% from other sources.

I guess I just thought the Madlib interview was interesting because he's known for sampling such wacked out rare stuff that I just assumed that he would be more of a purist like some other producers are.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Digger LITE.............. :P .. :P .. ..

Great Stuff ITCHY GREAT STUFF....I GUESS I Must B DIGGER HEAVY

Madlib dont give a ufck. he made a few joints on madvillain using the Boss 303 Dr. Sample. probably just to prove he can make fire on anything.

he made most of the album on the sp 303, according to him.

"He had a weird energy" lol whats that about?, lol

anyhow I like Madlibs approach as long as u feel the music use whats available to u that has always been the spirit of hip hop.

Alot of people get way to high and mighty about the process they go thru, i agree with madlib ur aim should to be make music that moves u using whateva means r available.

word, i heard he used the 303 0n most of madvillain too, but I saw that on the rear cover of the cd he is holding up an SP1200 so go figure

I can hear the 303 on some of it though, in the highs, and some snares

I think he uses the 303 for just about anything, but he probably grabbed some drums off his sp and sampled them in the 303. You can usually tell the 303 when he uses the effects. I asked him, he said he still uses the sp but that stuff hasn't been released, for the released stuff it's the 303.

I thought that considering the amount of trees he said he smokes, he be kind of laid back. But he was real fiidgetty, making weird faces at people, pacing around. he had a cute asian girl with him and he kept putting her on to records.

Arons is on highland and santa monica. Great 3 to 5 dollar selection.

That much weed makes you kind of jumpy, PBWolf always looks like he doesn't want to be recognized, I think they spend way too much time indoors, and they get kind of agoraphobic. All that weed can't help. Fans are a curious thing, it's rea hard to be real with them when they sweat you and haven't even met you.

the man, or give him my demo. I was just trying to get a peek at what he was picking up. One couldn't help noticing him, he had a vibe that actually changed the room in a petti theif kind of way.

i meet him and wolf in silk city in pa a few years ago. and yeah he a strange fella. A chill cat though, but yeah he did have a wierd vibe to him like he was just strung the **** out. He did come walking in reaking like trees. PB wolf kept goin outside to talk on his cell and he was giving everyone wierd looks like he was inconvienced to be there. Then egon blew the power and it took them like 40 mins to get that shit back.

Yeah, they don't seem to handle the fame aspect too well, they're not immersed in it, they are just like half into it, so it's onl;y at shows or where ughh heads might be that they experience it, I guess that would kinda get to you after a while.
