Your mbox is going to be your sound card. Unless you meant MPC, because if you had a M-box I would hope you had a computer before you bought it.

bhunt is right your mbox is where your monitors are going to be hooked up too so the mbox is your soundcard and protools is your software. And i got event tr5's for $250 and theyre pretty decent best bang for the buck if u ask me. :D

yea, no need for the soundcard if you have the mbox with protools, or without protools i guess. I really like the sound of the M1 active MK2 alesis monitors, they aremade a little differently then most where there is more ocus on the low end which is nice for hip-hop as long as you also monitor the highs and vocals with a good headphone like the AKG K271. thats what I use, hope that helps

check the Digi users group about what mobo's and chipsets are good for the MboX. It can be picky and may not work with some boards and chipsets.

a labtop, something under 1500 with tax. as far as specs i want at least 80g hard drive, at least 1024 ram, at least 800 front side bus, and preferrably HT pentium. all the places i have gone they all want to include stupid packages like word and money programs, i dont want none of that shit im not even going to use the labtop for the internet, just music nothing else. o also an external hard drive at least 40g
