Floppy drive not formatting, loads fine.....

Hi,

here my problem

I installed a new Floppy Drive last night it savea and loads sounds fine faster than my old drive infact, but when go to format a disk it tells me that there is no disk in the drive.
I can't figure out what the hell it could be, jumper settings could be the problem, or my OS is 2.14 i thought tht maybe this drive can't work with that OS.
I'm having to format on the PC first !
Anybody got any suggestions as i'm fresh out of ideas

what kind of floppies are you using?

I'm using old DD Floppies, they're proper 720k old school like !

abnd if it helps the drive is a sony drive, i bought it from www.route66.com it says on the website "NOT FOR USE WITH 3000 UPGRADE. " which i don't have i mean when i think about it its not that bigger problem really but its just bugging me why its not formatting, i thought i was experience until now( and coning on this forum ! ) this has got me stumpednever com across this probelm before.

Return it and tell them it won't format, get a teac FD 235-HF drive and set the jumpers as were posted here a little while ago.

Sounds like the best idea i discovered the Teac jumper thing after i bought the drive ! Don't know why i never thought of it before.i'll give it a go this weekend.

I bought one from them and it does the exact same thing. They will not give you your money back the problem is in the jumper setting have'nt figured it out yet, but I know that's the problem. Anyway I have an extra TEAC with the jumpers already set if you want I'll sell it to you for $25 plus shipping. PM me if interested. Do you have to pay customs on something this small?

but i'm up with the Teac Jumper thing now !
Your right they don't give you a refund, it pissed me off a bit as i had to pay £59 ( about $120 ) in import tax ! he put the value on the customs form as $400 dollars when i only paid $96 i don't want to be nasty but i was deciding for ages about getting a floppy from them if only i came on this forum before i did anything ! My fault really !
