getting beats from 2000xl to my pc

For arguements sake, I have made 2 2 bar loops... I press shift + "Song" and make the whole song from these to loops, a simple song for an intro... but I cannot find a way to get it from the mpc to the pc...

Now I thought up to methods.... using the newly sliced/sped up/"drummed up" loops I could convert them into wav... put them on a floppy put them on the pc and make the beat on there... but the manual doesnt tell me how to do this... it just says you can save it as a .wav file which i want to do

im getting tired of re-making the beats over and over so please help and let me know how to get beats from mpc to the pc...



Also, I would like to know the wires I would need to attach the mpc to moniters (speakers) and the fittings needed on the speakers...

well, you could run a cable from your mpc's output into your computers input. you would need a 1/4" -> 1/8" cable to connect that.

i use cool edit pro to record my music and edit it inside my computer. you'll need a program to record into if you do it that way...

And it depends on what kinda of monitors your working wit. my nady monitors needed banana plugs...what kind of input do they have?

is there a way to record seperate tracks from mpc to cool edit?

which cool edit you usin? Pro has a multitrack mode. Yea i suppose you can track all your stuff out. It would take longer. But i guess you would mute everything else except the track your recording (on the mpc) and press record on the multitrack in cool edit and do it one by one....

I havnt bought moniters yet, but if i find some old ones in the loft i may use them just wondering what kinda shit i need...

ok so if i go into a regular music store and ask for a 1/4" -> 1/8" cable they will know what i mean? (how much money-wise?)

well, let me know what kind of speakers they are in your loft. if they're just speakers, most likely you'll need a normal cable. maybe a 1/4" (quarter inch) one. but, i goto radio shack for most of my cables and they do know what i mean when i say quarter inch cable. the 1/4" is the thick plug one. the 1/8" is the small one you always see. the one that fits in the computer and most radios/walkman or whatever...

FL meaning fruity loops right? well, thats isnt music editing software. you use that to make beats on. try going to www.syntrillium.com and check out cool edit. i believe its called adobe audition now, but its the same thing.....

Some people have recommended programs like Nuendo, Sonar, etc...but i know nothing about these programs so i cant help with those....

this is my process.....

First off...my mpc is connected to my mixer. all of my equipment is....

From my mixer's MAIN OUT, i have a 1/4" to 1/8" cable going into my computers soundcard input.

I open cool edit pro, and record into it....but i dont use the multitrack.

Ok, on the mpc...if you highlight the Track on/off area (on the mainscreen) and press the Open Window button, it opens up a display of all your tracks. Each pad represents a track. If you press sound bank until its on Bank A, it shows you tracks 1-16. This enables you to mute specific tracks while your beat is playing. Well, this is how I make my songs most of the time. I dont sequence much, i just mute...

I press record in cool edit, and start my song. Cool Edit records whats playing then I go from there. And thats usually my process....


There's different ways of getting it to the computer, but the easiest i can think of is recording what plays from your mpc into your editing software and saving from there...

i dont see why you cant get by with only that. The way i described is only ONE way of getting your music to your computer. All you should need is an mpc, cable, computer (w/soundcard), and music editing software. if no mixer is involved, connect the cable from your MPC's output to your computers input.

play what you have on the mpc while your recording on the computer:

- press record in cool edit (or whatever program your using)
- press play on your mpc
- press stop when your finished

and it should have recorded what was playing...

A Minor: i was only describing how I record my songs. on your mpc, you can either create a whole song out of multiple sequences or do what I do which is muting/unmuting tracks to make the song. yea you can set up a song on your mpc, and play it in song mode. If your recording into your computer, whatever is playing on the mpc is what will be recording on the computer. wether its in song mode or not.

Look, u can just record the entire beat as a wave file (all the tracks toghter)

Or u can record out each indivudaul track of your beat in a mixing mastering software(cubase or protools) This is usually done when u want to mix and master a beat as well as add vocals

Yo C,just follow what Smoove said and you should be good.Just watch your levels when you're recording and you should be cool.Either step he explained on how to record is fine.

Just take it slow so you won't get confused or mixed up.This all a learning process and you have to do what you're comfortable doing.I don't think watchin' someone else use a bunch of equipment you don't have is gonna help.

My bad.A minor, you can use that method also.Just take your time and learn as you go.But either way Smoove described is right.
