MPC 2000xl HOW DO YOU SAVE on THE MPC WITH AN EXTERNAL MIDI

i was wondering if you might know if i HAVE TO HAVE THE EXTERNAL MIDI DEVICES CONNECTED WHEN I LOAD BACK THE PROGRAMS TO WORK ON THEM I am saving the drums i created on the MPC 2000xl as well as an external midi device that was played along with the seq. do i have to have the midi devices connected when i load up the seq. again later or am i doing something wrong IM saving all programs and sounds and all seq. and songs but when i load, the drums come back but just the pattern in which the midi device was played seems to be saved i don't know though maybe IM doing something wrong any help would be greatly appreciated

im not to sure about your question...are you asking how to save the SOUNDS/INSTRUMENTS your working WITH, or what? meaning, you save the .all file and it saves the pattern you played but wont save the instrument you used? is that it?

well, im not sure why you wouldnt have the midi instrument you used connected to your mpc when you want to play back what you recorded. so my answer to that is YES, i would have all my instruments connected when I play back...but the rest of your question i cant answer until i understand what your askin....

yeah im trying to save the drums that i created on the mpc and the sample that im playing from my asr 10 which im running midi into the mpc i only seem to be getting the drums back after i save and the pattern in which the asr 10 was played but if the asr 10 or my roland are not on nothing plays on those midi tracks so thats why i was wondering if i always had to have the ASR 10(external midi device) connected cause thats gonna be hell if i ever wanted to take my beats elsewhere IF YOU HAVE A BETTER WAY PLEASE LET ME KNOW I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP UNDERSTANDING THIS i know midi is not audio but i assumed that when it was played along with the sequence it was recording the sound and not just the pattern hope this was a better description

Why don't you save the sample from the asr on to the mpc by playing thru the record in's on the back of the mpc. Then save that sample onto some kinda of media. Hope this helps.

That's an easier way to do it.IMO.Just use the outs not the midi.But if you do use midi then like Smoove said keep all your devices plugged in during playback.
