Saving Disks on the MPC 2000

I want to save my disk sounds to my mpc 2000 so that I don't always have to insert the disk and load them, I read the manual and it said to format it, when I press "do it" it says "write protect" what does that mean?? And as soon as I move the data wheel the screen says "wait" and freezes everything else. What do I do ?

You mean you want to have the sounds available every time you turn it on right?Well,that's not gonna happen unless you have flash rom to save it to.Loading your sounds is th same as loading the o.s it has to be done everytime you power up.Manual pg.18
