Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Well, I've been having this problem for a while with a different setup I had going for my Akai, but now I'm working on a different one. I'm having a problem getting my MPC2000XL to read Midi data. I got a controller hooked up into the Midi In on my Akai and one sound mod hooked into the Midi Out on my Akai. I looked at the manual, and did what I think it told me to do to get everything to read. I'm fairly new to Midi so it has been quite difficult. Well, when I look on the Midi monitor on the Akai to see if it is receiving on channel one I don't get any sound from my mod, nor does it show that it is receiving my controller. So I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I'm doing wrong. Thanks.

do you have the track assigned to midi channels on the main sequencer?

Yep. I have it set on Track 1. Midi Channel 1 A.

Do this first: Check to make sure the controller is working by connecting it directly to the module to see if it triggers. Get this working first before you put the MPC into the equation.

Then check to make sure that the MPC is setup to receive on all channels (since you may not even know that channel the kybd is transmitting on).

How do you have your sound mod hooked up to the mpc? I have the same thing. I got my mo'phatt hooked up to midi A on the mpc to the midi In on the mo phatt. Same thing with the proteus but to Midi B. This might help let me know

My controller triggers the Module perfectly by itself. I'm using a Radium 61 key controller with a Kawai K5000r sound mod. Any suggestions. And I believe I've been turning the soft through off.

My Akai is really ticking me off lol. I got the midi tutorial and I tried hooking up my Radium into my Akai from the Midi Out of my Radium into my Midi 1 In on my Akai. I have it set to Drum so I control the samples on my Akai and it isn't working. I've it to New Program A and Device 1A and I'm still not receiving any data lol. If anyone could please give me some info I'd be ever so grateful. Thanks for your time, and listening to my venting.

the in and out of the akai should go to your controller and the thru should go to your sound module or out from MPC to the in of your module and the out from your module back to the IN of your MPC PLAYA

I am such a retard, I got it fixed. It was actually much easier then I thought. My Akai IN's where giving more resistance then what I was used to. I called up an Akai tech at there site and told him bout it, and he said just jam it in there. So I did, and now it's receiving on everything. Sorry for wasting everyone's time.

The Akai IN/Out would only go into a controller that gave off sound. My controller doesn't. I just got the out of my controller going into the In on my Akai. And the Out of my Akai going into the In on my Sound Mod. It works perfect. :D
