Eb 16 and how to use it

I have already done a search and the manual explains nothing at all....so please no smart aleck remarks!

Can someone please explain in simple and clear language how to operate the eb16.....without referencing other equipment or web pages not specifically designed for the eb16....basically...someone knowledgable about the eb16 and can explain how to use the low pass, high pass, and band pass features as relevant to the eb16!

the search yields a slew of posts that are not specific....and pictures of charts may be good for some....but a basic, simple explanation would be clearer. thanks in advance to those who actually wish to help out.

go to the akai site and download the manual for the s2000, it has a large amount of infomation about the eb16, it might help you out.

i wanted to read this myself after viewing this post, i don't think the info in the mpc2000's manual is that bad.

Disclaimer: I don’t know how far along you are on the MPC so don’t take offense if I state the obvious. This is just how I use the filter.

Go to the “Mixer” screen (shift+7) and press F3 “FX send”. Select the pad to be altered. Turn the FX send all the way up and select the Effect to be applied to the pad, in this case M1.

Press F5 “FX edit” and select Multi FX1. Turn the REV(erb) off for now. Turn the FILT(er) on and press the “open window” key.

To get a fresh start set the all frequency dB’s to 0, set the Q to 99 for both MIDs, and set the F-MODs to 0. Go to the Effect Mixer screen (F5) and turn the direct signal off and the Dist/EQ levels up. This configuration should sound more like the original.

Select the frequencies to boost or cut and raise or lower the dB respectively to do so. Adjust the Q to zero in on frequencies. Adjust the speed of the filter modulation “F-MOD” (typically I only use this for Multi-Samples). And lastly, adjust the depth of the effect.

That’s how I do it… but others may use it differently.

thanks for the info guys....I'm sorry that I wasn't specific....I know the basics of the effects processor....it's just the filter that is giving me a headache.....say I have a sample with vocals and drums and I want to try to filter the drums as much as possible....would I use the hp filter....if so...how do you determine thr freqs?

no ... it's very easy

does the chip work for 2000, xl, etc.? they all fit the same?

You gotta play with it while playing a sequence and hear the differences.
Some stuff is better left for you to experiment with.

What chip, the EB16 -effects card- is for the 2k and 2kxl?

if u got the eb16, when u add effects to whatever , can u send the sounds with the added effects through the 8 outs to a recorder and keep the effects that the eb added? a birdie told me that the effects can only be transfered through the digital outs...i find it hard to believe..anybody care to enlighten me?

whatever effects you set in the mps will be routed thru the 8 outs....someone was uninformed when they told you that....I have used the eb16 and done what you ask thru the 8 outs...I've just had trouble with the filters or "eq".

so if i got 6 tracks, all of wich have different effects added to each of them thru the eb16, i can send each track to a recorder, and record each track and have the effects stay on each track? right ?

Can you apply an effect to a sound and then resample it and that effect would be permanently on that sound when you hit that pad?
