MPc+ Triton Le+ MOtif es

One quick question... I switch from using sonar 3 back to slaving everything into my MPc 4000 and using it as the center of my production setup.. My question is ... I'm running Midi cables from the motif to tha Mpc and triton to the mpc.. Now when I make a beat then save the program and save sequence on the mpc, then shut everything down and later come back and load the program and sequence how do I get my motif and triton to automatically switch to the sounds thats in that particular or do I have save on the motif and triton too... I mean I would like when I load up some unfinished tracks not to have to look at the name of each track and find the sounds on the motif and triton everytime....

Well, there's a few ways to go about it. Personally, I don't get to elaborate. I have the midi channels named with the synth they are controlling's name, and I name the track the patch number on that synth.

In this case, yes, you have to save on each piece that you have some tweaks.

then you turn it on, and set your synths to the patch number in the track name.

You can go elaborate and actually save the bank change messages for each of your synths in the MPC, so then when you select that sequence, it will change the patches to the ones you used in a track.

Even more elaborate is doing a midi dump from your synth of the tweaked patch and save it in the MPC. you then have to play the data back, either at the begining of the sequence, or on a separate sequence. The you don't have to save your tweaks, you just have the patches dumped that you used for the sequence.

That's a bit too much work for me, but it is really handy as then patch storage limitations of the synth are irrelevant, and you can have multiple tweaks of the same patch saved without taking up slots in the synth. Definitly adds some benefits. I'm not sure how that works with the 4000, but it's gotta be better than any other MPC for that because of all the memory space, fast processor and RAM.

Unless there are some bugs or reliability issues with the last method, I would ask on the 4000 forum and see if anyone does this on the regular.
