level indicators in Akasys

In the Mixerpage in Akasys where one can c all the parts on a mixer; there are virtual level indicators beside each fader, at fisrt I was like hoo how darn dandy is this .. but then after being in plug and play mode for bit I relize they are very inactif, some never come on some do but over all not much movement, now I'm runing a Pentium 133 laptop that barly has enugh ram to run win XP, zo;

is it just my laptop or do your vissual leds act rather in-actif?

and when a led hits red its due to actual internal distortion /YEs? so they are not going by velocity but by actual output level of each part, netto stuff, just needs to work right....

I know I'm young on Akasys but it truly bugs me that whenever you enter program via akasys it will give you a keygroup page, like on the mixer page all the names of the parts are displayed next to the fader; but if I click on a name of a drum program I still get the usual keyboard style editing, where each pad is just a number, no visual indication of what pads/bank I'm working on, imo it be very helpfull to have a small window with visual indication of pads +bank, with highlighting of the pad your editing, just a small visual picture that's all... am I doing it wrong is there a easy way to understand the numberic layout in keygroup mode?

hy glide - i m no aksys fan either ... almost ignored it til 1.70 - but in the past weeks i m usin it more and more ... its startin to make sense for some things ... and yo - its not crashin anymore!

as for the multi and the level meters you were talkin bout. not totally sure here - but i think i read in the aksys manual that - those meters are not for the levels - but they indicate how much poliphony your part or program is eatin up ...

as for the keygroup pgm: i hear ya - its only 2, 3 weeks here that i started using em - coz i had to setup lotsa stuff. stick with it - it makes more sense the more you use it. i m faster now to setup medioum to large keygroupprograms on aksys as on the 4k ... once you understand how aksys worx its real fast for certain stuff. at the end the parameters explain themselves since ya know them from the 4k.

as for the graphical thing - i think what you want iis the pad editor - aksys is a bit weird. highlight the drumprogram, then with your mouse go to the left side of the screen where the 4k symbol is and press right mouse key - then scroll down to pad editor ... and there we go ... hth

so when I'm hitting red I'm runing out of poly for that program... huh

but wouln't I be runing out of poly on all my parts then,..

yes but 32 or 64 poly for 1 program is alot imo ... workin on some megalayers? ...as for the other parts or programs - i never run out of poly yet - but i bet thats when the priority firled in - multi midi (f3) helps ...

yeah - ... its a bit of a strange field ... imo it made more sense if the level field would be there to indicate some digital clippin or such - but then even better as a new level field on the other side of the fader - ... well - is as is ...
