I hooked my turntable up to the mpc then recorded the sample where it plays on a pad, its 4 bars, I goto into the main window to the sequence then rec + play start then hit sample pad , how come it doesnt record it. I goto play the sequence in main window mode and it dont play it. It works on the pads though playing, thanks

hey also how do you play a sample on the pad where you can hold the pad down for as long as you want the sample to play instead of playing the whole sample everytime you press the pad??so the sound only plays while you pressing the pad

I'm strivin' to understad that first paragraph so I can't really answer your first question, but for the second question; go into the PROGRAM screen and set the sample to NOTE OFF (it will probably be set to POLY as default).
I think that's a bit vague, but i haven't used the mpc in a while. Take a look and you'll find it.

Did you actually assign the sample to a pad before going into the sequencer screen ?

^from the looks of his post, i think he did do that.

when this happens to me it's either: the sample isn't assigned to a pad, the volume on the sample is all the way down, the NOTE OFF option is on (either by itself or because the loop function is on), or.. the track that's being recorded to is MUTED.

hopefully it's one of these and you're mp ain't trippin'. peace.

And you might also wanna check the volume levels on the tables and the mpc.
