Please HELP!

I have a multiple device studio setup (MPC2000XL, Korg Trinity, Planet Phatt, etc.) and my problem is that I am getting a lot of electrical noise(background noise), but today I noticed that it only comes up when I increase the volume of the MPC channels on my mixer. When I raise the levels of the other devices I get no noise at all, but as I said before when I bring the level up on the MPC inputs the noise is unbearable.. I am using shielded cables, I tried connecting the MPC to different power outlest and it still happens.. I notice that when I touch or hold the MPC, the noise level reduces a little bit.. Has anybody here encountered similar problems?? Any suggestions?? Please help me out, I am getting very stressed over this.. I've been fighting with this for a week now..

SAY I DON'T KNOW IF THIS WILL HELP BUT A FRIEND OF MINE HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM TURNS OUT HIS VOLUME NOBS WERE LOOSE. aFTER A LONG PERIOD OF ABUSE/KEY POUNDINGS VIBRATIONS CAN GET THE BEST OF YOU. IF THIS IS THE PROBLEM YOU NEED ONLY TO TIGHTEN THE VOLUME WASHER/NUT. THIS MEANS YOU'LL HAVE TO CRACK THAT BABY OPEN. HOPEFULLY THIS TID BIT OF INFO HELPS.

Maybe your MPC has an internal grounding problem, maybe you opened it once and didn't place the screws back in there proper places.. ie.. a screw somewhere is touching metal that it shouldn't be touching.

that sounds most def a ground issue, but Its prolly with the outlets you got it plugged into, most spots dont have "modern" wiring in the sense that say, an office building does. If your pad was made in the 60's, odds are you got wiring from the 60's too.

I had a mixer that would shock me when I touched it, and do the same thing, put out bad sound unless I touched it, (touching it Grounds the device, which is why it sounds better, you are using your body to ground it.)

Check to ensure the power cords arent tangled (thats a common culprit) and double check all the cables, then plug it into another outlet that you know isnt giving you trouble, and plug the triton into the bad one. if the problems jump to the trition, then its the outlet. If the problem stays, then the MPC's internal ground is messed up. if u move them and both work ok, dont question fate and forget about it and get back to banging them beats!

What happens if the MPC internal ground is messed up?? How can I go about fixing that?? As I said before, I tried different outlest and it is still happenning... I have never open the MPC before, I wanna give that a shot to see if probably there is somethign loose, what do you guys think about that?? Anything that I should look out for when I crack it open??

Any cracked or frayed black wires possibly. Look and search for an authorized repair center in your area other than trying to fix it yourself. Explain the grounding problem to them just as you explained it here in the forum..

Does anybody here know where to get a list of authorized service centers in Westchester County in New York or just a general list of ASC's!! Thanks again!!

What I would do is a search on google for that area. or go to the akaipro site and search that way for locations in your area. That would prolly be your best bet..
