First off, to address your specific question on the UC-33e. You asked this:
"is it possible to control different parameters from different programs with the same external midi controller (uc33 in my case) via 1 midi port? "
The answer is YES, but not because of the MPC 4000. The reason is, is that one of the
features of the UC-33 is that each controller knob and fader on the UC-33 can be it's
own Midi CC and MIdi Channel. So let's say you have 3 Programs on the MPC.
Program 1 is Midi Channel 1
Program 2 is Midi Channel 2
Program 3 is Midi Channel 3
Let's say you want the UC-33 to control all 3 cut off frequencies of the fitlers for those programs.
You will need to go into the Program Modulation Window for each of those programs and set a Midi CC to control the Filter Cutoff. For this example, we will set that Midi CC to be CC#88
So now that you have each program responding to Midi CC# 88 on their respective panels.
You just have to go into the UC-33 and program each know. Let's say we are using
knob 1 , 2, & 3 ... Set knob 1 to send Midi CC #88 on Midi Channel 1, Set Knob 2 to send Midi CC#88 on Midi Channel 2, and Knob 3 to send MIdi CC#88 on Midi Channel 3.
Now when you play the MPC 4000's song, you can turn knob 1 to change the cutoff freq of the filter on Program 1, and Knob 2 will change the cutoff freq of the filter on Program 2. and the same for knob 3 for Program 3...
Once you have things setup like how you want, you can also create a blank program with all the Midi CC that you usually use, and then set that as a default, so that this will be all
automatic. Then you can setup Memory Presets up on the UC-33 that correspond
to your Programs. Then you can create a template to overlay your UC-33 with the LFO, Filter, Envelopes and such all layed out like a traditional synth....
*** For those that have a Midi controller that all the knobs will only send on 1 channel **
Now that I had filed my Bugs to Akai in Feb to the
[email protected], I was in the process of writing up some more RFE's (Requests For Enancements) and was about to send it off to the address, when I heard from this Board that they cut off that address.
One of my RFE's, was a request for Akai to implement an additional Modulation Matrix. But instead of this being Program Modulation, I was suggesting a Mulit Modulation window, where it provides AT LEAST 64 if not 128 slots for each Multi.
Some of the benefits of having a Multi Modulation window would be:
* You can have 1 LFO from 1 program control the Filter Cutoff of other programs so you could have program 1's LFO controlling Program 3, 4, & 5 's Filter Cutoff.
But not just LFO, but any of the internal parameters. Also, the LFO's for the Programs 3, 4, & 5 can now be doing other things, as they do not need to do the cutoff , as Program 1's is doing that.... kind of like interslot communication on the Nord G2, this would allow
for interProgram communication on the MPC.
* Same concept but for any Midi CC message
* One could setup Midi CC of Mixer page (as that's a Multi Item)
* One could setup Midi CC of FX page (as that's a Multi Item)
* One could setup a Midi Clocked Synced LFO to control FX level or FX parameters
* There's more that could be used, but since Akai cut the address off, I stopped figuring
out other items that could be inlcuded....
** Along with the Multi Modulation window, I have indicated that one should be able to specifiy a specific Midi Chanel that the selected items on the Multi Modulation could respond to.
So you can setup Midi in A Channel 16 to be routed to the Multi Modulaiton window and that a flag be able to be selected on the Window, if you want a parameter to respond to that Channel. That way you can have your midi controller set to Channel 16 and going in on Port A and then have your Notes going to the normal channel.

All these would just put the 4000 that much more over the top in regards to programability, but at the moment, I can't see any where to forward them to.
