Lord Toranaga wrote:not the same, but an s3000xl cost about as much as am 8 out board for your mpc. You could just buy one, and use it.

If a song is already done in the MPC, i'll have to export the .snd and load 'em in the s3000xl if I want to use 8 output, right ???

I have an S3000XL 8 out board in my MPC2000XL. Works great! I'm not sure if it will work in an MPC2000.

However, you have to be a bit of a handyman. The flatcable coming from the board in the S3000XL is too short. You have to replace it wit a longer one. I used a flatcable of a broken floppy drive.

You also can't use the metal board where the 8 out board of the S3000XL is mounted; the metal board supplied with an 8 out board of the MPC2000XL is different.

But you can install the board without the metal support board/shelf, like I did. To do that you'll need some nuts which are also used to mounten the jacks of the SMPTE interface on the MPC2000XL. Those nuts can be found in your local electronics store. Just ask for nuts to mount a BNC terminal on a frontpanel; these are the same. Two or three will do the trick.

Good luck!

No Problem.

I too, tried to find some info before I moved the board, and much people were saying it wouldn't work, until I tried it :)

I bought this S3000XL a few months before I bought my MPC... In my opinion the S3000XL isn't very user friendly, plus one can't use WAV files from PC disks. That's why I sell mine.

By the way the S3000XL still works if you unplug the 8 out board. You just can't use the 8 outs any more (of course), that's all.

Thanks a lot Steven !

It should work on the 2000 because the 2K and the 2KXL use the same "original" 8 output so I think the internal configuration must be the same.

I asked this question because I need the 8 output and a guy I know is selling is s3000xl for $300 canadian ( about $230 US ).

I think I'll buy it, remove the 8 output and sell it on e-bay !!!!

Thanks again man.

I'll find my way with your work around... :)

For that price why don't you just buy the 8 outs?

Because if I can sell the s3000xl for a good price, the 8 output will costs me near nothing !!!

It's better than paying $250 don't you think ??

Yes that's true. Unfortunately I can't find a buyer for my S3000XL (although it has an internal harddrive, which seems to be rather rare), and it's for sale for a couple of months now. Nevertheless, you can use the S3000XL as a backup or for instruments instead of drums.

So I wish you good luck :D

I just did it !

I've put my s3000xl 8 output board in my MPC 2000 and it's working well :P

The only thing that was a bit "tricky" was the flatcable.
I tought I would only have to unplug if from the board and plug the longer one....
But, because the connector is "onboard" and cannot be unpluged, I had to remove the cable from the connector, do the same with the longer "floppy" cable and "pin" this one into the "onboard" connector of the 8 output board !
I was like "Oh fcuk, I hope it'll works !!!" and it worked very well !!!

So thanks Steven !!!

By the way, I must be the only one with plastic ti-wraps in my MPC !!!!
