Now now doom, what did your mother tell you about lying :o . You should be ashamed trying to clown on my Motif like that! Now that I have wrapped up this case, I'd like to call up the litigants for the next one.........

I've noticed different nuances in samples played back at both 24/16 bit on my MPC4000 and K2000S. The MPC is certainly more 'punchy', not as refined as the Kurzweil which tends to be more quiet. I like them both for different reasons but I've certainly noticed a difference in the playback on both devices run through the same cable and channel on my mixer.

Signal to Noise ratio? I just assumed it was a difference in the output. I have all sorts of synths that playback at different 'full' volumes.

And doesn't a D/A converter come into play when reading off a CD to play back?

the MV8000 and Motif top out at 48khz don't they? Perhaps the extension in resolution yields a higher dithering when a 44khz 16 bit is being played back. I have big differences in my Adcom and Denon CD players due to their 18 and 20 bit resolutions (and the burr-brown types) when playing back the same 16-bit disc...
