but is there a way to use reason as a sound mod in real time. Like have midi channel 1 be on mpcs 1 and midi channel 2 be on mpcs 2. so u could use the mpc to fully seq it? casue i cant fig it out.

At the top of your Reason Rack, there is a MIDI INPUT device that has channels numbered 1-16. This is where you assign your Reason Instruments to MIDI channels.

If you only want the MPC to control/sequece the instruments...at the bottom of your rack above Reason's sequencer transport, disconnect ea instrument from Reason's sequencer. To do this...to the right of ea instruments name, there is a drop down arrow. Use this to disconnect ea instrument.

Now..if your MPC is connected correctly to your MIDI interface (which should be selected in Reason's preference menu) you should have no problem with your MPC controlling Reason in real-time.

binger0 wrote:uh i told u allready. U control reasons drum machine with the mpc. U make a seq on there then record the midi note data into reasons sequncer, then u use reasons sequncer for the rest. It can only use 1 midi channel to control a device at time. so say midi channel 1 would control the drummachine, the sampler, the synth, so u cant seq it all at once with the mpc. u could sync up the mpc to reason and just keep layering over the same midi track for diff insturements. so have all the data being recorded into reason, while the mpc is keepin up with it.

yeah sure
You can use Reason 1, 2 and 3 as a 64 part multi timbral device. How you do that, rtfm  Its well explained in the pdf. As the matter of fact, if you wanna learn anything, read the Reason manual, the Props did a good job explaining every aspect of a studio. Incl synthesis, sampling, sequencing, mastering, gate routings... you name it. Its all there

ANYWAYS. I figured it out. You have to goto options and enable MIDI BUS to what your input is. Then u just goto the top, and assign devices to midi channels. Just click the record button in the sequncer on reason, for the device so its grey or you will get an echo.

thanks i'll try that...last night when i was assigning the sounds, the sounds would assign but they would not be isolated....so if i had a certain instrument on one channel and then assigned another instrument to a different channel, both instruments would play simultaneously.....what was strange is that if I didn't assign any instruments, the "After 6" could still be heard...WTF

its becasue u have to click the track off in the sequncer. Right next to the red record button on the device in the seq screen in reason.

reason will never let you do that. in fact, propellerhead specifically stated that this will never be an option on any of their products.

 anyways, the question stated above scis, you can use another host, i use ableton to incorperate all your vsts with reason. Makes it unstoppable. All i use anymore is reason and my mpc. Ive been doing that for the last 6 months. Never enjoyed making music better then the rig i got going now. I use ableton to route the channels out to my dps12, so i can mulitrack in hardware.
