I'd probably do what I used to do all the time, get 2 records and go back and fourth on the 1's and 2's, record in the 4 track tape recorder, the key word is TAPE.
Like, oh my God, what do we have here?
My man is on fire like the Ohio Players
Throw yo' hands in the air, keep 'em there if you with me
The MPC-60 is rare, but it still sound cripsy

I'd probably use the ASR10 or a ASR10 Rack and emu MP7. My setup right now consists of a mpc2000, alesis micron, and a motif es rack.

I can't believe that I just went through the three pages of this post and no-one mentioned their A$$. So I will, If I couldn't use an MPC to make beats, I'd use my butt. Cuz, seriously, I can get some pretty good tones out of it sometimes... Then pick the right mic, a little bit of eq and compression and Bam!

I'd go back to my Yamaha RS7000, and my turntable and Pioneer Laserdisc to sample...which was before I discovered Recycle...

BEATBOXING.
U CAN ALSO SIT DOWN AT A TABLE AND PRETEND THERE IS AN MP IN FRONT OF YOU WHILE BANGING ON THE TABLE WITH YOUR HANDS.

the 505 is dope, I think the 606 is a waste, it doesn't add enough to the 505 feature set, it just looks more like an MPC.

....a live band. If the MPC wouldn't exist why would the other gear. Naming other electronic gear is too easy an answer.
