Timestretch matching

ok, so i've played with Timestretch well enough to be Kanye West....jus playin....I've actually shut up about it for a while and practiced it instead of bothering all of you with my questions......but once again I gotta ask......

when I try to Timestretch samples from the same song, the BPM is different(which is understandable).....but sometimes it is so different that Timestretch only makes things worse and it doesn't match up anything. Like I'll take a 2 loops that should be the same length/BPM and in trying to match them at a faster tempo I can't because the original BPM's don't match, one loop woudl be like 68 and the other would be 110......IS THERE A REMEDY TO IT?....lately I've been trying to play aorund with this but can't get the hang of that....I've played with the math side of things, tried the ratio stuff....doesnt work....any good tips on how to keep things pretty matched in the stretching?

I've found that timestretch for me only works with like a 10-15% increase/decrease in length. If you try to stretch it more than that it will be messed up..

Those BPM's are way to far apart anyway. Timestretching is no good for stuff like that.. That's my little 2 cents..

in the manaul it says only to timstretch 10- 15%for best results.

try changing the bars up or down then when close to what you want timestretch it and it comes out to the same tempo.

thats how i do it and it works fur me.

usually when opening time stretch it at 4 bars change it up or down to the closes tempo your workin at or desired

that's exactly my point....if timestretch is only good 10-15%, and the BPM is way too different....what can i do to make them closer...they shouldn't be that different if they come from the same song(within the same 4 bars)....??

you cut two ill ass loops from a record which are supposedly the EXACT same length.... and you are so sure they are the exact length?,,,


this is just an example... so i didn't take the time to calculate... below

in 4/4 time.... lets say a sample thats exactly 10 seconds is two bars 80bpm....

,,
now if both of those loops you cut aren't exactly 10seconds a piece.. then of course the bpms could be drastic... but if you cut close enough... then comparing the time-stretches on both will be humanly unoticeable....

maybe you think they exact same length just because they loop perfectly.... maybe one loop is 10 seconds which is two bars... while the other one is 5 seconds which is 1 bar.... maybe you need to set your bars correctly before timestretching...

same length......just a lil off....different BPMs....cant match even with the bar adjust.....need to adjust more than 15%(which sounds ugly) to get them to go together....i was just wondering if there is any technique that could help this, thats all...1

adjust the pitch before time-stretching...adjusting pitch also effects the length... the only risk you run into is getting a different emotion from the sample... increasing too much... might give you that high-pitched sound you don't want... and decreasing the pitch too much will give a sad low-pitch sound you might not desire....

Not to state the obvious, but trimming the sample can also change the BPM.

Sup blaz4, I use the insert sound to mainly just alter sounds a little, for instance, I just used it on a muffled snare sound, copied the sound, trimmed off the front (the drum strike) so I was left with just the trail of the sound. Then I inserted the main hit in front of the new sample. Result is a really nice live hit, like the drummer hit the snare and bounced the stick on it...But to be honest, I never used it much until recently, I like it more and more everytime I use it though and I'm glad I started f-in with it...

WHUT UP, SPIZZY, GOOD LOOKING ON THAT INSIGHT, I'VE FIDDLED WITH THAT TECHNIQUE LITERALLY LIKE TWICE AND EVEN THEN IT WAS WITH SAMPLES, NEVER THOUGHT TO USE IT TO ON INSTRUMENTS. AIGHT!!! THANKS LET THE BEATS KEEP BANGIN!!
