could someone who is familiar with using this function explain it to me real quick? here's my issue.

in my drums track (kick and snare) i want to change over to a different drum program mid sequence. here's what the manual has to say about program changes.

"PROGRAM CHANGE EVENT:
Program change : 1
You can set the program change. This event is normally used to switch the sound of an external sound module. If program numbers are assigned to programs in the internal sampler sectoin, you can switch the programs that are assigned to the track within the sequence."

does this mean i have to name my programs "1," "2," and so on? right now my pgms are named Ac1drums, Ac2drums, etc. anyone understand what i'm asking?

All progs have a number linked to it.
that's the number you have to use in PC events.

unfortunatly I don't know where you can check this numbers.

try 1 for the first prog created, 2 for the second n so on...

maybe...

the number refers to a midi number generated by an external bit of gear.
i think you have to set it to the same program change number you are transmitting...?

i dont think you can do it just with the 1k

yes you can.

just as you can change an fx-set at any point of a sequence.

program must have a pgm number so the machine(mpc) can identify'em.
and you can use it to swap'em during your sequence.

just don't know those numbers, but I'll check!

trust me. I think I know what I'm doing!!!

Go to Mode=>Program=>Hit window while program is highlighted, then you can assign the MIDI program change number to the program. I think its focused for using external gear!

so you can't change internal pgms? like from one drumset to another?

i'd like to keep this confined to one track...you follow me?

if this is just for external gear it's cool...i'll jiust find a workaround

The only way you can keep it to one track is use multiple sequences...as in song mode. Why not use multiple tracks? You have 64 of them!

The MPC1000 sampler section recognizes 0-127 Program Change. The Sequencer section TX and RX 0-127 program change. So therefore if you use external gear that can TX Program Change than you can do what you want do.
