MPC60, SP1200, SP12 OR MPC60II ???

Are there any difference in the sounds?
I was thinking of getting the MPC60II.
Any tips?

Do yourself a favor and get the 60, or 60II which are exactley te same except for some cosmetic detail. The 60 has this dope arm rest, the 60II has a headphone jack. The 12 is cool, but 5 seconds of sampling time and no saving capabilities is a little ridiculous. The 1200 is better cause you can save shyt and you got 10 seconds, which is cool. The thing about the 12-1200 is that they have a dope 12 bit sound to them, really gritty. Albums were made on the 1200, like Cypress Hill's first album, quasimoto, lootpack-madlib shyt, Pete rock and cl smooth's first album. So ya, is the 1200 dope, f*ck yes. I got a 12, used to work on it back in the day, plan on f*cking with it again someday soon.
The 60's are better than both in my opinion, but make sure you get the 3.10 version, this matters alot. With the 3.10 you basically have the same layout as the 3000 as far as the screen looks and how you go about your shyt. The 60 is also 12 bit with 26 seconds of sampling time and it is the best sequence man has ever made.

yes, the 1200(12) have the same sound. Its dirtier, more in your face 12 bit than the 60, which is 12 bit too, but not as dirty.

Every machine has a different sound.

the 1200 also has filters right? like more than just the lopass on the 60...

Guys, what happened? Most people did a little research before yappin on the 60 thread.

Emax sounds a bit different, and offers more flexibility, the filters on the Sp's give you little control comparitively.

youch. i just got my 60 two days ago. sorry for the ignorance. i figured it had the same features as my s900 which certainly does have a lopass filter on it.

....It's funny the SP-12 is supposed to be a 12-bit sampler hence the name I guess. But I had heard a while back that it was actually 8-bit. The funny thing is I remember when I used to f*** wit my homies SP-12 when you sampled bass it would add nasty high-pitch alias tones. Kicks and snares were usually okay, hats were muddy and horrible and sometimes you'd hear alias tones in samples (if you could fit em in ). Anyway, why does the SP-12 have alias tones, when the 1200 doesn't, the original EPS (12-bit) doesn't and neither do the 60 series??

I actually have detected alias tones on some old late 80's sh** from way back. I think I remember hearing it on some Tony D/Poor Righteous teachers production. Maybe even 'Rock this funky joint'. The old giveaway on SP-12 use was those damn overly crispy drum machine-esque SP-12 stock hi-hats like on BDK 'Get into it'.......

i know that ring tone you're talking about... recently heard it on a beatminers remix of the LIX "daaaaamn" sometimes it's really dope, and sometimes it overpowers the song (like on that lix remix)

the SP 12 should have the alias tones, but aliasing is more prominant on high frequency samples due to sampling rate and nyquist frequency, my guess is your sp-12 buddy sampled at 45 and pitched down. Where as the 1200 has 10m seconds so that wasn't necessary. SInce the Sp-12000 has a slightly lower sampling rate than the 12, it can produce more aliasing than the 12, technically speaking.

Man, I could never go back to hittin them sp12 buttons, After the 60, everything else is tinker toys. MIDI up, and then we have sum/

that alias ring tone is possible in the sp12, sp1200, casio FZ1, Emu Emax, and zoom sampletrak.
