I'm just thinking out loud, but couldn't you get close to sp 1200 sounds with any wav editing prog. just about. Adding a little distortion or dithering the sample, and adding some ring modulation?

ONE - i tried so many combinations, so many distortion tricks - but nothing did it right. this is the only thing i've come across that replicates it so perfectly.

The SP 303 has a similar sound to the sp 1200 when you record in lo-fi, plus you can add a lil extra ring modulation as an effect on there. That's another option for you cats wanting that sound. Used 303's go from $175-$250. It has loads of other dope fx and has timestretch, and you can midi it to the 1k. It's a definite option to check out.

and yeah antonym...sitting there flowers around on a pc trying to get your shit to sound a certain way can be a real pain and a real time consuming process. If you can something that gives you the sound you want with only a few adjustments...all the power to you.
