How do you set the mpc 2000 for holding the pad down to play the sample and not just pressing it once and it plays the whole sample......I want to know how to bring back the sample by just pressing it again.....and not by adding a shorter version to the sample on another pad......

Set loop to on under the Trim menu on the Loop page. There's a few tutorials on this site here that go into some detail on multisampling and looping:

http://www.mpc-tutor.com/tutorials/

Check it out and absorb.

Go into your program menu hit paramaters and turn your play mode to mono. Poly means to overlap or start over without waiting for the first command ends.

Mono means (once) in MPC play mode terms.

wheras the note off is saying I'll only play as long as you hold me.

If I understand the question right, you should actually set the "overlap" (in the program/params) menu to: Note Off. The sample will stop playing when you stop pushing on the pad.

THE WAY I TOOK IT HE WANTS TO BE ABLE TO HIT THE SAMPLE PAD AND HAVE IT PLAY BACK THE WHOLE SAMPLE RATHER THAN HOLD DOWN THE PAD THE ENTIRE TIME AND BE ABLE TO STUTTER RESTART THE SAMPLE . AS IF HE WERE SCRATCHING IT IN.
