Playing A Chord/Autochromatic/16 Levels

I have a short synth sample loaded into track 4. I am trying to record a chord(holding down three pads at the same time).
I have tried 16 levels tune, when I hold the pads down it makes the proper chord but when I press record, it only records one key at a time.

When I try Autochromatic all of the sounds in my Program change to the synth sound!

You can use the 16 levels to do what you want, but you have to set the quantize/time correct setting to OFF on the track you're working on.....and then when you play the chord, hit the 3 pads at slightly different times. You can more or less hit them at the same time, but not EXACTLY at the same time.

The problem is, after you record the chord, the quantize is putting all 3 notes in the exact same place......and technically, the 16 levels is all actually just one sound on one pad - so it can't be in 3 places at the exact same time, so to speak.

(oh, and make sure your sample is set to 'POLY'.


I had the same problem with this, but after I figured it out, I use 16 levels for chords a lot.

1. couldnt you put it on 16 levels, and then in step edit mode, place each pad on the same step?

Example: go into step edit, and on 01:01:48 push one pad a time, and when they play back, they play back as a chord.


2. Couldnt you put it on 16 levels, and place each pad/note on its own separate track at the same step?

Example:
Track one 01:01:48 pad A1
Track two 01:01:48 pad A2
track three 01:01:48 pad A3
