Making programs on computer.

Is there a program that will allow me to make a program on my computer (Mac OSX) that will allow me to assign which pads I want a sound to go to then be able to upload it into my mpc and it being able to load up the same way I assigned it on the computer?

but is there a way I can assign a sound to a pad and bank on ak.sys? And do I have to do it while its plugged into the MPC or can I do it without it being plugged? The reason I ask is because I have some kits here with me at work and wanted to try and assign some sounds to pads so when I get home I can just load up the disk into my MPC and have it load everything to where I assign it.

Afair, there's a pad editor, yes. It's asked for here regularly, so a find in the archives should clear that up. But I don't think ak.Sys can be used without hardware attached, indeed, so that won't help.

You could check out the MPC Editor app from www.midicase.com. That one allows you to create offline drum programs, but the mpc4000 is not among the supported target formats. But since the 4000 can read almost all of the mpc formats (except the mpc1000 and mpc60, iirc), maybe that app can still be used. Never tried it.

But it's so easy to assign samples to pads on the mpc, is it really needed to use a software for that?

thanks for that info rob. I know its easy to assign samples to pads, I use a 3000 and started out with a 2000 before that. But sometimes im bored at work and I try to do a few things at work so when I get home I can start working. Its just one of those things to help keep me occupied while I have down time at work.

Look for cut.rate keymapper. I used this program to make akp's for the s6000. Its basic and I believe it is only chromatic but it will get the job done.


Edit: Whoops just saw that you have OSX. I dont think that cut.rate supports OSX.
