how do u sample from other hardware

How do u sample sounds from other equipment on to the mpc.say I want to sample some syth sounds from a motif and save them on to my mpc how would I do that.

you're joking, right?

You take the AUDIO OUT of the synth or other hardware, and plug it into the RECORD IN of the MPC.

Then play.

Then sample.

*shakes head*

What kind of a question is this? How else would you sample it? How do you sample everything else?

better to route an aux send of your mixer to your sample input, beats repatching.

does it sound like this guy has a mixer, or knows what an aux send is?

Yeah, the above is helpful, but maybe you want to say record a phrase/riff or motif into the Akai that was playing via midi (akai sending midi data to your synth), and have control over each note when sampled into the akai as opposed to having 1 sample. Two ways really,

1) Sample in as described above and then use the 'Dividing a sample' function (page 73, user guide) or:

2) sample as above. Then use 'aksys' to pop it into your computer (if you have one). Chop the phrase/riff/drumloop etc.. in Recycle (chopping program for pc/macs), dont forget to save the created midi file aswell as the 'slices' of audio, then send back into your MPC via 'aksys' again. Both ways will enable you to have control over the seperate pieces of audio that make up you phrase/drumloop etc...

do like tictoc said and plug your synth's OUTPUT into your mpc's RECORD IN. go into SAMPLE mode and remember to select the length of time you want to sample. then start recording from the mpc and play your motif and it should sample what you played. the manual probably touches more on it
