Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hello,
I use to have a ASR Ensonic Sampler and I was able to play bass and horns.

My Question is can the 2000xl allow you to sample a keyboard sound and use the 16pads as 2 octives of a particular sound.

You talkig about 16 levels? Press the 16 levels button (funnily enough) and take a look at the window that comes up. You'll be able to figure it out from there... Just hit the pad with the sound you want to use, hit ok, and the sample will be spread across 16 pads.

Yeah, I wondered about that... I wasn't sure if was actually 2 octaves.

I need music theory lessons.

ok.... my bad... i had to read ya question again... yeah... u can do that.....u gotta first go in and edit the sample, and catch the loop of the wave.... i posted a question actually some what similar to it earlier this week...... the question was about "Infinite Sustainable Notes".....which once u have looped the sounds, u can go in and hit the Assignable Automatic Chromatic .... something like that....

if you know your theory, just assign the same sample to each pad and pitch shift it per pad so you get the scale you want. you may want to use Note Off so when you release the pad the sound turns off

It's been covered 100 times, but here we go.

1) U can use 16 level, tht allow you to play one sound at 16 level of tuning, tht change by a semi-tone.
Noway it will give you 2 octaves on only 16 pads... keep in mind tht a complete octave is 13 notes...

2) you can use Auto Chromatic Assignement, it assign sounds automatically in semi-tone to the 64 drum pads

3) you can do a multisample .Pgm by yourself. Ther's a tutorial right here on MPC-Forum, do a little search in Tutorial...
