midid program changes

is there a way to send program change info to an external midi synth?
I have an alesis S4 and I need to send program change info so tha sound I use will automatically change when I load tha sequence in tha MP up

yes it is possible you can do it by step editing or by doing a dump right into the MPC from the sound module

that sucks u can't just do it from tha seq screen?

i did it by sending a sysex dump from the synth and storing it as a 1 bar sequence. you have to play that 1bar the first tim whenever you load up the track.

just go to step edit and select 'insert' then choose 'program change' and write this event to 1.1.1 on a dedicated track, using the appropriate program number (0-127). then mute the track once it has changed the program so it doesn't keep re-sending the message.

Live, I find it easier to just call my Midi channel tracks things like 'Nord-87' and change them manually.

Not sure what this means but it is a very simple process

don't know if this is possible with Mpc1k.

but when I had a Yamaha Rm1x I used to press rec and tweak the external gear.

this way the tweak info was recorded in the sequencer and every time I press play...
