anyone use "beat slices" much (not just "hits")...

know what i mean??

when you slice a loop in recycle but not into hits... you leave it as slices... maybe two or three or five hits together that sound really funky together,,,

then bash around with the pads and differnet slices set to each pad...
just wondering how people work with this machine

im talking about the MPC1000 or MPC2000xl.... cant decide which one to go for yet
but i'd intend to chop and slice on whichever one i got... IMO its a great way to keep the feel but still get a totally new beat...


i tried out a 1k in a shop the other day and it seems fine... the pads are good, small but workable, and i was almost defo going for a 2kxl before that. now im not so sure. whats 'zoning'... i know some people moan that you cant do it on the 1k, would having usb/computer access get over that completely...?

Zoning pretty much is your "beat slicing". It takes your sample and automatically slices it up. You can go up to 16 slices I think. I have the classic so I pretty much do all my zoning or "beat slicing" manually.

I like this feature with Fruity Loops.

It automatically chops up any beats you create.

I made alot of remixes out of those slices.
