N E 1 know of a PC program that...

allows you to listen to all of your samples (not all at once... sheesh!)? I've got 7 gigs of samples and I'm trying to weed out the cr@p from the stuff that I will possibley use. I know the MPC Editor and Sound Forge have this function, but I need a program that just allows me to just listen to the samples. Windows media player is cr@p plus I'll be here all day using it. Thanks.

if you check the Auto play box when you browse for samples in SF you can hear the samples without havin to actually open it. You can also use the arrow keys on your keyboard to scroll through them, makes it much easier then having to use the mouse.

and then just delete the ones you want to weed out in the SF browser. (right-click, delete) If thats not possible, use cool edit

Anything with auto play should do that.

There is a brilliant Mac app called AudioFinder that does this ..... I haven't heard of a dedicated PC equivalent but I'm sure someone is working on one if it doesn't exist yet.

I've gotten sample cds in wav format. I've used fruity loops to weed through the samples. It takes a while but it wasn't that bad.

I went to "import beat to slice" and when menu came up I selected the drive with cd samples and selected the format. I used the mouse and click once and I was able to hear each sample.

Adobe Audition has the autoplay feature. Just go like you were going to open an audio file and once you browse to the folder where your files are look down by the open button and there will be a small box you can check off that says Autoplay. Check that off and now every sample you click on will play so you can preview it.

I guess I'll use my trusty Sound Forge program to get rid of the unwanted samples.
