I have a mpc 1000, turntable, used laptop and a yamaha motif 6 will be here this week. What else do I need for my set up ? (Making tracks at home but recording vocals in a recording studio)

Absolutely nothing.

Will I need any software for sampling or will the motif be good enough for chopping my samples.

you have a motif 6 and an mpc, I don't think you need anything else to sample with. The motif6 has the sampling stuff that the mpc1000 does not have, such as time streach and zoning (the motif calls zoning slicing)

I have the mpc1000 and about to get the motif6, tell me how you like the set up.

you might need some kind of preamp or mixer for that turntable if you don't have one already.

you might benefit from having some audio editor software for your laptop. there are tons to choose from and probably some half decent free ones about. Personally i really like having the option of choping up and preparing samples on my PC.

yeah, if you plan on tracking your stuff and adding vocals you will need software seqencer (cubase, cakewalk, sonar, etc...) if your budget is tight you can get a copy of cubase SL for like $99USD and a decent audio interface to track everything
