Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Just copped a 1402 vlz mixer and was wondering how does anyone using it intergrate it with the mpc's 8 outs. I would think i can just have my individual sounds come out of the mpc into my vlz(subgrouping the drums) in which i would probably want to add compression.. I have the RNC compressor going into my patchbay..Does that mean i have to put the channels from the mackie mixer in there as well in order to process this. Whatever sounds gets process thier then needs to go to the VS1880 inputs..Seems confusing, maybe i just need to go in my studio and try to do this tonight..any help u can give me would be appreciated.

I'll give you a secret - if you don't know already.

Any insert jack on any mixer can become an output by inserting a patch cable ONE CLICK.

So, for example, you could have 8 outs going into the mixer and out of the insert jack into an ADAT. Some mixers have inserts and outs for the subs and master, (such as the Mackie SR24-4) so you can get pretty creative with routing and compression.

Routing example: Six outs into individual channels from MPC, then out to Roland from inserts(one click), kick and snare routed to subgroups with compressor in line from sub outs, then to Roland.

See?

Ok, i thought i can only do this with the alt 3/4 outputs on the back of the mixer. Thanks..
