I've had my MPC2xl for about 5 months and just came across the track mute button/screen....doh

I might add it's ace!! real handy and has upped my game a load.

better late than never, I was meaning to press that button for a while.

haha, luckily somebody showed me that from the jump. Very handy.

Lucky you! I'm glad I found it though you can have a good jam with it better than from the main screen.

That is one of the reason that makes the mpc so good to live with.

I'd advise you not to overuse this button. I did, and as a result I rarely ever finished a track. I record straight to cd, and I'd just track mute/un-mute parts. After you save the track and move on to other beats months/years later; someone will want that beat, and now you will have to replicate what they heard on the cd. If you have to go to the studio, your not going to be using that button while recording. Get used to chaining your sequences together and using the song mode function.

roxstar i agree, but for some people its easier. i know when to break down and mute/unmute, bring the hook in, bridge, etc... just by the window so im very comfortable doing it that way. but i understand what u mean

Roxstar-I make my sequences, go into track mute, mute the parts I want to mute then play them like that in song mode. I find it easier than say getting a beat laid down copying it a few times deleting a track here and there to make change ups. As I can still copy the main beat then use the track mute screen. But like Smoove said you can do it that way just dropping things in and out, but you may not be able to recreate it exactly if you ever needed to.

But it's wicked to jam with really enjoy that. Literally hours of fun

feature for actual producing. I just use it to get ideas about sequencing. A handy tool though.

Do you only get 16 or can you use the other banks for other tracks?

You get tracks 1-64 using the bank buttons

Yeah... one thing I miss when I use the 60. I usually didn't use them while recording it's just that it's so much easier to do more at once instead of having to go through every track when you want to mute/unmute.
